Cannondale Synapse Review
The Cannondale Synapse excels on the road. The Synapse is a performance bike that won’t let you down when you are out riding for the afternoon or in endurance race. Cannondale is proud of their products so they strive to put the best of everything into their bikes.
Longer rides require more comfort and the Synapse gives you this comfort. The wheelbase has been lengthened and strong and durable carbon forks have been added. In addition, the suspension system has been reinvented to create a very smooth ride. The attention to detail and to superior performance has created an award winning bike. The Cannondale Synapse received the “Cyclosportif Bike of the Year” award by Top Velo and also for 2010, the “Best Plush Bike” award presented by Bicycling Magazine.
A quality bike will provide you comfort, a smooth ride and high performance levels. Quality should be found in every part of the bike from the tires to the seat. Cannondale demands the best and they know that you do to. As technology changes and reports from trial riders and others are received, Cannondale gets busy to work. Features are constantly being reviewed and improved.
If you are in the market for a new road bike, then check out the Cannondale Synapse. There are 9 different styles and price tags to go with them. As a side note, due to the fact that Cannondale is always working to improve each bike, certain specifications or materials may change without notice provided to consumers. The Synapse has 3 different versions and then each version has several bikes to choose from in that particular style.
In the first category you will find the HI-MOD 1 Dura-Ace and the HI-MOD 2 SRAM Red which the pricing tops out around $6,400.00. The second category holds the Carbon 3 Ultegra, the Carbon 4 Rival, the Carbon 5 105 and the Carbon 6 Apex. In the last category you will find the Alloy 5 105, the Alloy 6 Tiagra and the Alloy 7 Sora which the lowest price will be about $880.00.
Each bike within the Cannondale Synapse line comes standard with Cannondale’s “Save Micro-Suspension System”. This new system was developed out of necessity and for the fact that although the prior system met high standards, it still wasn’t good enough. The purpose is of course to reduce as much vertical shock that the rider feels. The new rear assembly is able to avert severe road shock as well as unnecessary vibrations. This reduction increases the rigidness and gives the rider more power transfer as well as better cornering.
The longer wheelbase referenced earlier, allows the availability of relaxed angles which places the rider into a position that gives the rider more control. An increase of control provides an overall better ride. Of course, you won’t have a good ride if the bike doesn’t fit you correctly.
Cannondale Synapse frames are 48, 51, 54, 56, 58 and 61. The tires are Schwalbe Ultremo ZX 700x25c and the rims and spokes are Mavic Kysrium SL’s in black. Cannondale provides their own Hollowgrab SL BB30 crank, chainrings are FSA DA-79 and the 10-speed chain is a Dura-Ace. Shimano Dura-Ace 7900 are the brakes and brakelevers and Fi’zi:k Aliante Gamma with Kium rails is the comfortable saddle.
You do need to choose your own petals and you may want to change the saddle. The Synapse lineup has great balance, great design and is aerodynamic. The Cannondale Synapse is a quality, high performance road bike that will not let you down.
